This phase, Autumn Equinox (Qiufen JieQi), starts at 4:01 PM EDT as the sun crosses 180° Longitude (0° Libra). Autumn Equinox (QIUFEN JIEQI JIEQI)



On the Autumn Equinox, the opposing forces of Yin and Yang come into balance as the the length of day and the length of night become equal. When two opposing forces are in harmony, beauty is created, and as nature comes into elemental balance during this time of the year, the beauty of the natural world leaps out. 

Beauty, is the theme of the next seasonal phase, Autumn Equinox.  But what spiritual function does beauty serve and how can you access that quality to align with nature and enrich your life? 

In a word, beauty opens the door to love. Beauty may take the form of another human, a sunset, or a work of art. Whatever the medium through which beauty is perceived, if we are moved by beauty, the heart opens and we experience gratitude, joy, and a deep sense of wellbeing. Beauty relieves stress, melts away tension, and creates balance and harmony. It is easier to experience sympathy, tenderness, and care inside a beautiful moment. Beauty draws out our inner sweetness.

Allow the beauty of nature to inspire more beauty in your life. That could mean enhacing your physical presentation and making yourself more pleasing. Or bringing harmony to the way that you communicate. The words “please” and “thank you” are welcome this time of the year. Becoming more gracious, accommodating and ready to compromise are sound strategies. Privilege harmony over conflict. Say yes more times than you say no and you will resonate with the seasonal mood. 

Pay special attention to the sunsets over the next two weeks. Nightfall during Autumn Equinox is an especially powerful time. Spend a few moments meditating with the beauty of dusk on the power of love. Allow the magic of the moment to open your heart. Intentions set at this time will help you shape the world in a meaningful way.

Practicing the Autumn Equinox Empowerment will help you boost your energy level and enhance your expression of harmony. The empowerment begins on Friday, September 22nd between 4:01 PM EDT and 6:01 PM EDT. Remember to adjust for the time difference if you live in another time zone.

Autumn Equinox lasts until Saturday, October 7th at 10:22 PM EDT when the fifth stage of autumn begins, Cold Dew. Until then, embody the spirit of a beautiful autumn sunset and may your presence bring peace to the world.

STEP 1: LOCATE C6


The spine is made up of five segments including the coccyx, the lower back (sacral and lumbar spine), the middle and upper back (thoracic spine), and the neck (cervical spine).

The vertebra associated with this empowerment is Cervical 6 (C6) in the neck.

The big vertebra at the base of your neck is Cervical 7 (C7). One up is C6.

STEP 2: SPINAL MEDITATION

(You can practice this empowerment every day until the next Jieqi, but the golden time is on Friday, September 22nd between 4:01 PM - 6:01 PM EDT)


Once every 15 days, the sun crosses over "power spot" and a wave of powerful cosmic energy is released. The purpose of this empowerment is to concentrate this energy into your spine and internal organs.

  1. Sit comfortably or lie down and relax every part of your body.
  2. Inhale through all the pores of your skin, collect universal Qi energy and concentrate this energy to C6. Exhale and visualize C6 glowing brightly. Continue this breathing patterns 36 times.
  3. Then, inhale, focus on C6, exhale and visualize the light from C6 spreading throughout your body, to your spine, your bones, and to your internal organs. Repeat 36 times.
  4. Finally, inhale and collect the light and energy from all over your body into your Lower Dantian which is located three finger widths below your navel in the center of your body. Then exhale and concentrate the energy there. Repeat three times. Then, relax, and nourish your Qi, feeling like a sponge soaking in a warm tub of water. Maintain this state for as long as you want.

STEP 3: SPINAL MOVEMENT EXERCISE

(Practice this exercise once a day until the next seasonal phase begins)

The purpose of this exercise is to strengthen the soft tissue surrounding the vertebra associated with the current empowerment. Every 15 days we focus on a specific vertebra and over the course of the year we tonify the whole spine. Be gentle and don't strain your back.


  1. Sit cross legged, put your palms on your ears, fingers pointing backward.
  2. Inhale, keep facing the font, and exhale, bend your body to the left. 
  3. Then inhale, return back to the front, and exhale, bend your body to the right.
  4. Repeat step 2-3 for 36 times.
  5. Swoosh your tongue around your mouth until it is running with saliva. Then, swallow the saliva, and send the energy of your saliva down to your Lower Dantian. Repeat three times.
