My Qigong Life:
13 Months Plan of Practice Guidelines

The Master Key Series includes many different exercises. Here are some practice guidelines that can be adjusted based on your level of experience and the amount of time you have to devote to your Qigong practice. Just remember, the key to success is consistency.

Stage 1: Setting a Foundation

The purpose of Stage 1 is to set up a foundation and familiarize yourself with all the exercises covered in The Master Key Series. It lasts for one month and is divided into four weeks.

During the first week, do the following practices every day.

During the second week, do the following practices every day.

Stage 2: Striving for Life Changes

After one month of Stage 1, you will have practiced all the exercises at least seven times. At this stage, you might already be feeling some Qi energy pulsating in your Dantians and your Central Meridian. This sensation may be subtle. You may feel a slight heaviness, vibration, or heat in those areas. Any unusual sensation is a sign that your Qi energy is awakening. If you don’t have a strong sensation of your Qi yet, don’t worry. Keep practicing and it will come gradually over time.

Now we come to Stage 2. This stage lasts for one year and the focus is on the mastery of the Essential Practices. It is divided into four quarters. Each quarter you will be practicing primarily one of the three Essential Practices: Three Treasure Standing Meditation (TTSM), Four Golden Wheel Exercise (FGWE), and Lotus Meditation (LM).

Begin every practice session with Awakening Awareness and end with Nourishing Qi to deepen your practice tremendously.

During the 1st Quarter, do Three Treasures Standing Meditation (TTSM) every day as your primary practice. Select any one of the other exercises as your secondary practice. Example:

During the 2nd Quarter, do Four Golden Wheels Exercise (FGWE) as your primary practice every day. Select any one of the other exercises as your secondary practice. Example:

During the 3rd Quarter, do Lotus Meditation (LM) as your primary practice every day. Select any one of the other exercises as your secondary practice. Example:

During the 4th Quarter, choose a favorite Essential Practice as your primary practice every day. Select any one of the other exercises as your secondary practice. Example:

Stage 3: Choose Wisely

After Stage 2, you will have developed a basic mastery of the Essential Practices. Beyond this point, you come to Stage 3 which has no time frame and no specific guidelines. You are free to choose the exercises that help you achieve your highest goals.

I recommend that you apply discernment in the choices you make. The following three-step process for selecting both Primary and Secondary practices during Stages 2 and 3 can help you determine which exercise is most relevant, given the specific issues you may currently be facing in your life. When you match your Qigong practice to the practice of real life, your daily practice becomes more meaningful and vastly more effective. So choose wisely by following this three-step process:

  1. Determine your time frame. For instance, if you are choosing a Primary Practice during Stage 2, your time frame is three months. If you are choosing a Secondary Practice for Stage 2, your time frame is one day. If you are choosing a Primary or Secondary practice for Stage 3, the time frame is completely within your control.

  2. Pinpoint your issues. Ask yourself, what aspects of my life are in most need of improvement over these time frames in order for me to be happier? Identify two personal issues—one long-term and one short-term—that you would like to resolve within those two spans of time. Those two issues will guide you to the right Primary and Secondary practices. For example, if your long-term challenge includes attracting a new love interest and your short-term challenge includes prepping for a job interview later in the day, then you would select Lotus Meditation (to help you open your heart more fully) as your Primary Practice and commit to doing it daily for an extended period of time, and then select Three Treasures Standing Meditation (to help you become more focused) as your Secondary Practice just for today.

  3. Select the right practice. Every exercise brings a unique benefit and when you understand the benefits of each exercise, you can select the right one to support your objectives. Used in this way, Qigong becomes a tool for self-empowerment and life transformation.

Choose the Hologram Palm Empowerment and the Central Meridian Empowerment when you want to integrate your capacity for vitality, love, and wisdom.

Three Treasures Standing Meditation develops your willpower and intention, helping you to develop a powerful mind.

Four Golden Wheels Exercise generates flow and helps you to become more embodied and alive. If you’re feeling stuck, isolated, or misunderstood (or you wish to develop a stronger and more vibrant presence), practice this exercise.

Lotus Meditation sweetens your Qi field by filling it with universal love. If you are feeling vulnerable, heartbroken, or you wish to become a kinder person, practice this exercise. By developing more compassion and care you also become more attractive to others and so Lotus Mediation is a good meditation to do if you are looking to attract a love interest into your life.

And while you are not doing a formal Qigong practice, there are two exercises that you can still always practice, Nourishing Qi and Awakening Awareness. Ultimately, Qigong practice never begins and never ends.

Wishing you Good Qi and enjoy your practice!
